Questions buyers ask
before they order.

Buyers ask Ducero three things before they order: what it makes, how it prices and which documents to ask for. Ducero works on metal deck, cladding, light-gauge steel roof trusses and mild-steel systems (portal frame or conventional), with solar mounting from sister company Sunrise Prima. Every package is quoted from your drawings, with no published rate, and the current CIDB and ISO certificates are worth asking for with the quotation.

Roofing and metal deck

Which roofing jobs appear in Ducero’s archive?

The roofing archive, 94 entries from 2021 to 2025, lists light-gauge steel truss jobs alongside roof covering, reroofing, strip ceiling, party-wall capping and wall cladding. Three examples, quoted as published:

  • “2 Units Reroofing – Mutiara Oriental Condominium, Petaling Jaya, Selangor” (2025).
  • “8 Units Roof Covering – Yee Lee Trading Co. Sdn. Bhd., Serendah, Hulu Selangor, Selangor” (2025).
  • “Strip Ceiling – Perbadanan Putrajaya, Putrajaya” (2025).

These are individual job scopes, not blanket certifications. The full list is in the roofing project archive.

What is metal deck roofing, and how is the right sheet chosen?

Metal deck is profiled steel roof sheeting, fixed to purlins on a steel frame or to battens on a roof truss. Ducero’s guide to choosing metal deck roofing sets the order:

  1. Match the coating to the site’s corrosion exposure.
  2. Match the fixing method to the roof pitch.
  3. Match the base metal thickness to the real support spacing.
  4. Match the fixing pattern to the design wind pressure under MS 1553.

Then compare quotations on the supplier’s current datasheet, span tables and warranty terms, with a qualified engineer confirming loads and spans. To price a metal deck roof, send Ducero your drawings, the site location and the covering you have in mind.

Should a damaged metal roof be repaired, reroofed or replaced?

It depends on where the damage stops.

  • Repair when the fault is local: loose or rusting fasteners, a failed flashing or sealant joint, or corrosion confined to a few sheets.
  • Reroof when corrosion, leaks or coating breakdown have spread across much of the sheeting but the purlins and trusses are sound.
  • Replace the whole roof system when the supporting structure is also corroded, deformed or inadequate.

A site assessment should confirm which case applies; Ducero’s guide to repairing, reroofing or replacing a metal roof walks through the signs.

What should a metal roof quotation tell me?

More than the sheet and its colour: it should name the whole roof build-up and what it achieves.

  • The base metal thickness, the coating class and the paint system, stated separately.
  • The fixing method and fasteners.
  • Whether flashings, insulation and gutters are included.
  • The U-value the whole build-up achieves, and whether the roof is light weight or heavy weight.
  • The manufacturer’s datasheet, span tables and warranty terms.

The U-value matters because the roof rule in Selangor’s building by-laws applies to the build-up, not to the sheet alone; see Ducero’s guide to metal roof heat and the U-value rule.

Steel frames and trusses

Light-gauge steel truss or mild-steel portal frame: which does my building need?

Neither is universally better; the building decides, and a structural engineer confirms the choice from the span, loads and site.

Light-gauge steel uses thin, cold-formed sections such as C-channels, made into roof trusses, wall frames and battens, and suits houses, low-rise buildings and roofs carried on walls. A mild-steel portal frame uses heavier hot-rolled beams and columns with rigid joints, and suits column-free factories and warehouses. Ducero works with both: send your drawings, span, location and roofing requirements for a project-specific review. Ducero’s guide to light-gauge steel vs mild-steel frames compares them in detail.

Which steel does Superspan use, and what does it say about it?

Superspan states that it uses BlueScope TRUECORE® and Blue ZACS® steel and partners with BlueScope. Its published claims for its steel frames and trusses:

  • Steel never needs chemical treatment and is fully termite-resistant.
  • Precision-engineered steel won’t warp, twist or shrink.
  • Lightweight, pre-fabricated frames and trusses are quick and easy to erect.
  • Steel is non-combustible and 100% recyclable.

Superspan’s website also refers to BlueScope’s 50-year written warranty: ask for the warranty document and its terms for your project, as the steel page explains.

Steel or timber roof truss: how is the choice made?

Span usually settles it: JKR’s specification for pre-fabricated timber roof trusses reaches 12.00 metres unsupported, and 12 to 16 metres only under a special provision, so a span beyond those limits points to steel.

Ducero’s guide to steel vs timber roof trusses also notes that CIDB publishes a quality-assurance standard for each system: CIS 5:2018 for prefabricated timber truss systems and CIS 12:2009 for prefabricated light-weight steel roof trusses. Timber is prone to termite attack and has its own treatment rules, while Superspan states that steel never needs chemical treatment and is fully termite-resistant. Compare both on the same drawings, with the project engineer confirming the span and loads.

Can I buy light-gauge steel profiles such as C-channels and battens?

Yes, through Superspan’s Shopee shop, which the steel page links to.

Its published listing includes C-Channel C-Section Blue-Tinted C75 and C73 and Roof Batten Blue-Tinted B30 and B35. The steel page shows reference prices previously published for them; they are not confirmed current offers, and the listing does not state length or thickness:

  • C-Channel Blue-Tinted C75: RM8.55 per piece as listed. Reference price.
  • C-Channel Blue-Tinted C73: RM7.59 per piece as listed. Reference price.
  • Roof Batten Blue-Tinted B30: RM3.84 per piece as listed. Reference price.
  • Roof Batten Blue-Tinted B35: RM4.35 per piece as listed. Reference price.

Check the price, dimensions and availability with the team or on Shopee before you order. For a full truss or frame package, send drawings instead: packages are quoted from your drawings.

Solar mounting

What does Sunrise Prima provide for solar projects?

Sunrise Prima Sdn Bhd, Ducero’s sister company, provides engineered solar mounting structures designed to support reliable and efficient solar PV installations.

Sunrise Prima was launched in 2023 as the group’s solar arm, to support Malaysia’s growing renewable energy sector. Through a strategic collaboration with Solar Sentinel, a solar PV solution provider, it combines structural engineering expertise with proven solar system design. Solar Sentinel’s own website lists consultancy, design, supply, installation, and testing and commissioning of complete solar PV systems. The solar page links to Solar Sentinel and shows the “Power Your Site” presentation.

Can solar panels be mounted on an existing metal roof?

They can, after four checks:

  1. The roof structure can carry the array’s weight and wind uplift.
  2. The fixing method keeps the sheets watertight.
  3. Every part touching the roof is compatible with its coating.
  4. The design suits the site’s wind and exposure.

Under both Energy Commission routes for rooftop solar, Solar ATAP and SELCO, the structural design must be certified by a qualified, competent person. Mounting rails carry the array’s weight and wind uplift into the sheet’s supports, often at points the original design did not allow for, so an engineer’s check of the purlins, trusses and connections comes first. Ducero’s guide to solar mounting on metal roofs lists ten checks.

Can Ducero supply trusses for a roof that will carry solar panels later?

It can be planned for, as long as the solar array is in the brief from the start.

A truss designed for light metal sheeting may not suit concrete tiles or a later PV array, and prefabricated trusses arrive to a fixed design, so a late load can require redesign or refabrication. Ducero’s guide to choosing a steel roof truss system advises including the array’s added dead load, uplift and fixing method in the first brief, and circulating the truss drawings to the architect, engineer and M&E designer before fabrication. Send Ducero your drawings with the solar plan marked; Sunrise Prima’s solar page covers the mounting.

Quotations and ordering

What should I send Ducero for a quotation?

Send the drawings and the facts that size the job:

  • Architectural and structural drawings.
  • The site location.
  • The roof covering you have in mind.
  • Your target programme.
  • For a frame or truss, the span and roofing requirements.

The more complete the drawings, the firmer the quotation. Use the enquiry form on the contact page, email Ducero2020@gmail.com or call +603 3123 1348, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

How are truss and roofing packages priced?

From your drawings: Ducero quotes each truss and roofing package from the drawings and publishes no standard rate per unit, per square metre or per tonne, because the quantity of work depends on the roof you are building.

When you compare quotations, ask what each one includes: design, endorsement, connectors, bracing, lifting, installation, roof covering, transport, taxes and warranty, and whether it is supply only or supply and install. Ducero’s guide to choosing a roof truss supplier explains how to compare quotations like for like.

How long do delivery and installation take?

Lead times are set per project: Ducero does not publish standard lead times, because the programme depends on the drawings, the quantities and the site.

Put your target programme in the enquiry, with the date the roof or frame is needed on site, and ask for the fabrication and delivery lead time, in weeks, from approved drawings to be confirmed in the quotation. For a building that stays in use during the work, Ducero’s guide to reroofing an occupied building explains how reroofing is sequenced bay by bay.

When and how can I reach the team?

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm; Ducero is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Call +603 3123 1348, send a fax to +603 3123 1724 or email Ducero2020@gmail.com, or use the enquiry form on the contact page. The published address is Lot 2116, Jalan Nuri, Kg. Kebun Baru Batu 9, 42500 Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. For a quotation, send the drawings and details listed under what to send.

  • JKR system supplier registration: Held by sister company Superspan Sdn Bhd, for prefabricated cold-formed steel roof trusses, to 23 October 2028. Current.

The About page shows every document.

What documents should I ask for with a quotation?

The current CIDB and ISO certificates and the applicable warranty document, because each runs in fixed cycles and a scan on a website may belong to an earlier one.

  • For trusses and frames: the design code and edition, the steel grade and thickness, the coating, and who signs the calculations.
  • For roofing: the manufacturer’s current datasheet, span tables and warranty terms.

Ducero’s guide to choosing a roof truss supplier lists the checks, and the glossary explains the terms.
